Richard von Strigl (1891–1942) was an Austrian economist from a family of Bohemian civil servants who earned his law doctorate in Vienna in 1914. He habilitated in 1922 with a methodological study published as Die ökonomischen Kategorien und die Organisation der Wirtschaft (1923) and taught at the University of Vienna and the College of World Trade. A longtime participant in Ludwig von Mises’s private seminar, his Capital and Production (1934) extended Austrian monetary and business-cycle theory; he remained in Austria after the Anschluss and died of a brain tumor in 1942.
