William Stanley Jevons (1835–1882) was an English economist and logician. He is one of three economists (along with Léon Walras and Carl Menger) who developed the theory of marginal utility in 1871, thus transforming the understanding of the theory of value. He served as chair in political economy at University College, London, retiring in 1880.
