Eamonn Butler, director of the Adam Smith Institute, explains the Austrian school of economics for general readers. He covers its method and its view of the individual as a purposeful chooser, subjective value and marginal utility, the structure of production and capital, money and the business cycle, and the Austrian case against socialist calculation and central planning.
The primer introduces the school's main figures, Menger, Mises and Hayek among them, and its disputes with Keynesian and mainstream economics. This is the Adam Smith Institute's 2010 edition, published under its open-access policy.
