Lectures Whately gave at Oxford in Easter Term 1831, printed in an enlarged second edition in 1832. He argues that political economy deals with exchange and the creation of wealth, which he proposed to call catallactics, and he clears away confusions over terms and method. The book influenced the Oxford tradition of economics through Senior and later writers.
