Bastiat's 1850 essay on the proper role of law, one of the last things he wrote, in a revised Liberty Fund edition of 2018 edited by David M. Hart. It updates the Liberty Fund translation from the Collected Works of Bastiat and adds editorial notes. Bastiat argues that law should protect person, liberty, and property and becomes perverse when it is used for plunder.
