A pamphlet Spooner issued before the election of November 1860 for the Free Constitutionalists. It urges voters not to support the Republican Party, which he says had no plan to abolish slavery, and sets out the claim that the Constitution itself gives no legal protection to slavery and that the national government has power to end it.
