Thomas Hodgskin's four lectures of 1827 to working men at the London Mechanics' Institution. A former naval officer turned radical journalist, he defends free trade and private property while pressing the claim of labor against what he calls the unproductive claims of capitalists and landlords. A notable early example of popular economics aimed at workers.
